OmniRide, VRE Holiday Schedule

Holiday operating schedule for Manassas-area mass transit agencies

According to an alert sent out by the transit agency, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE), which has two stops in Manassas (Old Town and Manassas Park), does not provide service on federal or federally observed holidays.

Specific operating schedules are available for the following holidays:

New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Presidents' Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
The Day After Thanksgiving

Here is the VRE schedule being observed over the Christmas and New Year's holidays:

  • Thursday, Dec. 23rd - Day Before Christmas Day Observance -"S" Schedule. Only trains designated with an "S" will operate.
  • Friday, Dec. 24th - Christmas Day Observed, no VRE service
  • Thursday, Dec. 30th -  Day Before New Years Day Observance - "S" Schedule. Only trains designated with an "S" will operate.
  • Friday, Dec. 31st - New Years Day Observed, no VRE service

Amtrak and PRTC OmniRide buses, which provides service  from locations throughout Prince William County along the I-95 corridor and Manassas and Gainesville areas, can provide alternate transportation on some of the holidays that VRE does not operate.

FRIDAY, DEC. 24

  • OmniRide Commuter Bus and Metro Direct – Modified Holiday schedule-limited service.  See designated trips on schedules. PRTC will provide a few extra midday OmniRide buses to handle anticipated overflow.

NOTE: The PRTC Transit Center will be closed on Friday, December 24.

SATURDAY, DEC. 25

  • NO SERVICE

FRIDAY, DEC. 31

  • OmniRide Commuter Bus and Metro Direct – Modified Holiday schedule-limited service.  See designated trips on schedules. PRTC will provide a few extra midday OmniRide buses to handle anticipated overflow.
