Search is On for New Manassas City Manager

Manassas City Council continues to interview candidates for the open city manager position.

The Manassas City Council is well into its search for the next person to lead Manassas as its city manager.

The governing body will conduct interviews for the city manager position on Tuesday, Wednesday and Aug. 29, insidenovareports.  City council also interviewed candidates earlier this month.

Retired city manager Larry Hughes is now serving as the interim city manager until a new one is appointed by council.

The position came open earlier this year when former city manager John Budesky announced in March he was leaving his position so he could care for a sick family member in southern Virginia. He'd held the post for just over a year.

Neighboring Manassas Park is also looking for a city manager. The city attorney Dean Crowhurst, has been serving as the interim manager since the retirement of James "Jim" Zumwalt in June.
