Show Him the Money: City of Manassas Welcomes Finance Chief

Manassas government staff are preparing to welcome a new finance and administration director to the city next month.

Paul E. York has been hired as the director and will officially take the post on Feb. 10, according to a release issued by the city.

“We are happy to welcome Paul to the City of Manassas family,” said Manassas city manager William Patrick Pate.  “We look forward to putting his wealth of experience and financial knowledge to work for the community as part of our senior leadership team.”
York takes the position after 10 years as finance and administrative services director in Beloit, a city in Wisconsin.
Before that, York was in Leesburg, Va. serving as that town's director of finance.

In all, he has more than 30 years of experience in the field, experience that includes being an accounting supervisor in Blacksburg, an accountant with Appalachian Power Company and a controller for the city of Huntington.

“I am very excited to be returning to Virginia and joining the staff of the City of Manassas,”  York said  “This position is a tremendous opportunity that will allow me to continue my career in local government finance and reconnect with our family in Virginia.”

York has a bachelor's degree of business administration in accounting from Marshall University in West Virginia.
