Who Do You Vote for When Nobody's on the Ballot? (Nobody, Apparently)

Manassas will get a chance to vote for local candidates in November.

Manassas voters have apparently not been thrown off base by local elections being moved from May to November.

This is the first year Manassas voters haven't voted in May for a local candidate, and poll officials said voters Tuesday appeared well educated about who is on the ballot.

So, that left the contests for lieutenant governor and attorney general as the real only draws to get Manassas voters to the polls.

Only one resident of the 41 who voted at City of Manassas Precinct 003 at Metz Middle School appeared confused about whether local candidates were on he ballot.

In 2012, Manassas voters passed a new law requiring local candidates to appear on the ballot in the general election instead of having their own election in May.

On Election Day at 4 p.m., Marie Aylesworth, poll chief at Metz Middle School, said the turn out was light -- fewer than 50 people all day long.
