The Manassas City Public Schools announced last week that high school students in the city will be heading to school at 8:10 a.m. beginning next year. Currently the school day begins at 7:20 a.m.

The school board is making this move, in part, to prepare for the new Baldwin elementary and intermediate schools opening in 2016, according to InsideNova.com. Other school systems in the area are also investigating a shift to a later start time for high school students.

What do you think of the change. Do high school students need an extra hour in the morning? Tell us in the comments section below!

I think the later start time is ridiculous. Rather than getting additional sleep, teens will just stay up later. This also has a negative impact on the sports schedule.
