Local Students, Parents Invited to White House Easter Egg Roll

250 Yorkshire Elementary School students and their parents will be heading to D.C. Monday for the annual event at the White House.

Yorkshire Elementary School students and their parents have been invited to enjoy the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, April 25.

Tickets to the annual event were donated to various school divisions in the metropolitan area by the U.S. Department of Education for distribution to students and family members.

The Manassas school conducted a lottery to select the students who will participate. As a result, 250 very excited students will be heading to the Nation's Capital to participate in the coveted event.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our children,” said Principal Damon Cerrone. “The students are just beside themselves with excitement.”

The White House Easter Egg Roll is focused on promoting health and wellness with the theme “Get Up and Go!”  All of the activities will encourage children to lead healthy and active lives, which is a central part of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” initiative, a national campaign to combat childhood obesity.
