Manassas City Schools Elects New Chairman of Board

A man who has served on the Manassas City School Board since 2006 is now serving as its chairman. 

The board elected Tim Demeria as the new chairman during an organizational meeting on Saturday, Jan. 11. 

"I am very thankful to the rest of the board for believing in my ability to be chairman,” Demeria said in a statement released by the school division.  “I am especially appreciative to our two senior members, Scott Albrecht and Art Bushnell for advocating that new leadership be developed before their time on the Board is completed.”

He said he takes his new responsibility very seriously and will do everything he can to support schools superintendent Dr. Catherine Magouyrk division staff and faculty. 

Also on Saturday, board member Scott M. Albrecht was elected as vice-chairman.  The board also re-appointed Kerriann Clapper as school board clerk and Lee Miller as deputy clerk.

The school board is elected to serve by city of Manassas residents. 

The remaining members of the board are:

  • Pamela Sebesky 
  • Sanford Williams
