Cousins spear headed the schools’ , which found great success over the summer. Cousins read about the program in a journal article and presented it to Weems Principal Angela Burnett.

"Ms. Burnett and myself were looking for a way to get kids excited about reading, but really take away the idea that 'I have to read this for a grade. I have to read this because at the end I'm going to be quizzed on how well I know it.' We wanted to figure out a way to get kids excited, make sure they know what they're reading, but be excited at the same time," Cousins said.
