Arrington is currently the principal at Luther Jackson Middle School in Fairfax.  “Coming to Manassas City Public Schools affords me the opportunity to do what I am most passionate about; engaging students on a daily basis while influencing the adults to not see their “work” as a challenge, but an opportunity to change lives and impact the world,” Arrington said.

Prior to his assignment at Luther Jackson, Arrington served as the Cluster 2 Director for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).  In that role, he was responsible for the instructional and operational functions of 27 schools and programs, including three high schools, three middle schools, 18 elementary schools, two special education centers and one alternative school.  Before joining the central office at FCPS, he was the Sub School Principal at South Lakes High School, a position he held for eight years.  Additionally, he has experience as a middle school assistant principal, assessment specialist, and as a math and chemistry teacher. Arrington earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in urban education leadership from Norfolk State University.

The new principal says that upon his arrival in Manassas, he will embrace the rich history of Metz Middle School and hopes to provide transformational leadership in such a way that students, staff, and the community will know the school as a place of high academic standards and Mustang pride.  “When students transition to the high school, they will have anchor skills to allow them to continue their dreams,” he said.

Arrington notes that his primary goal is to ensure that the experiences students have during their middle school years will contribute to their success beyond graduation. “Graduation is a first step for many and students who graduate with options to pursue and achieve their dreams will be my expectation.  Additionally, I would like to establish a clear unwavering understanding with teachers that our work is about student learning and student achievement.”

Metz Middle School serves approximately 1,000 students in grades 7-8.
