New School Board Member Shares Ideas for Success

Board Member Ellen M. Purdy shares ideas to stimulate discussion for moving Manassas City Public Schools forward.

New School Board Member Ellen M. Purdy attended her first meeting this week along with fellow newcomer Ilka Chavez and new Superintendent Dr. Catherine Magouyrk.

But before that she was busy gathering comments, requests, observations, and recommendations from parents, educators and residents, among others, in an effort to come up with an "overarching vision and framework to stimulate a discussion of a future direction for our schools."

"Since you have been generous in sharing your thoughts in the past, I’d very much appreciate your response to the ideas," Purdy wrote in an email. "Tell me what you think is knuckle-headed, misguided, needs improvement, or if you like something.  My intent is to be as responsive to parents, educators and residents as I can."

Read Purdy's ideas to stimulate discussion for moving Manassas City Public Schools forward in the PDF above, and then tell us in the comment section below what you think about the ideas and talking points put forth in the document.

Hi all, you can just click on the picture. The attached .pdf is Ms. Purdy's document. Thank you.

I don't know if it's just my computer, but when I click on the pdf, it makes the picture above a very small replication of itself. It does not take me to a different document.

Robyn,
Sounds like it be could your computer. When I click the PDF it enlarges the PDF to a much larger view. By design, it is not supposed to take you to a different document. A the top of the PDF you can click "view in fullscreen" which will make the document as big as your computer screen is.

Robyn...do you want me to email you the document, or did it work for you yet? Lauren is correct, if you are able to click on the image/PDF document then the 'full screen' option at the top of the document allows you to see the document text more clear and then you can scroll through the 14 pages by clicking on the arrows at the bottom.

Thanks Lauren, but when I click the PDF it shrinks the PDF to a smaller view. Yes Erin if you don't mind, could you e-mail the doc to me?

No problem, doing it now.
