"Saturday With the Superintendent" Event Planned for Nov. 2 in Manassas

Get some face time with Manassas City Public Schools division superintendent Dr. Catherine Magouyrk.

Ignore that childhood tendency to avoid anything school related on the weekends and plan to spend some quality time with the Manassas school superintendent on Saturdays this academic year.

Dr. Catherine Magouyrk, superintendent of Manassas City Public Schools is hosting the first "Saturday with the Superintendent" event at 10 a.m. on Nov. 2 at Baldwin Elementary School.

The purpose of the meetings is to provide a venue for open dialogue among community members, parents and the superintendent.  At the events, Magouyrk  will provide attendees with updates and valuable information about the school division.
A school administrator meeting with residents in an informal setting on the weekends is more convenient for busy families, school division staff said.
"School divisions primarily host events during weeknights and often times, many of our parents are not able to attend,” Magouyrk said.  “Saturday with the Superintendent is an opportunity for parents and members of the community to participate in conversations around student achievement, current initiatives and events taking place in MCPS.”

Three other events are planned for early next year. Here are those dates and times:

  • Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 - Osbourn High School
  • Saturday, March 8, 2014 - Haydon Elementary School
  • Saturday, June 7, 2014 - Metz Middle School
