BATtle Baseball Team Goes Undefeated, Wins Labor Day Classic

The team plays again this Sunday against the Loudoun Senators.

The Manassas BATtle 8U travel baseball team continued its recent success to wrap up the summer with a championship at the Mt. Vernon Patriots first Labor Day Classic Tournament.  

Over the course of three days and five games, the BATtle were undefeated, extending their winning streak—which dates back to early July—to 17 games.

The BATtle began the weekend with a convincing 16-3 victory in four innings on Saturday against the Loudoun South Eagles.  They continued pool play on Sunday with a doubleheader, topping the Loudoun Senators 14-3 in the opener.  They wrapped up the number one seeding with a six-inning, 29-5 victory over the tournament host by Mt. Vernon Patriots.

In the morning semi-final game on Labor Day, the BATtle triumphed over the number 4 seeded Patriots by a final score of 9-2, advancing to the afternoon championship game. 

In a rematch of their tournament opener, the BATtle faced the South Eagles in the championship game.  In an exhilarating, back and forth, two hour and 45 minute championship game, the BATtle prevailed in the bottom of the sixth with a walk-off 15-14 victory.

This weekend capped off a successful three-month swing from Memorial Day through Labor Day during which the BATtle brought home three championships and two second place finishes.  

The Manassas BATtle looks to continue their success this fall as they kick off play in the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League on Sunday with a doubleheader against the Loudoun Senators.
