District Battle Heats Up Against Broad Run

Eagles look to extend game won to six against the Spartans.

Coming off a tough Cedar Run District opening win against Battlefield, Osbourn (5-2, 1-0) faces yet another challenging opponent when they travel to Broad Run Friday night for a 7:30 p.m. game.

The Eagles eked out a nail-biting 28-21 victory over the Bobcats last Thursday in a hyped up district rivalry that did not disappoint. It was the third game in 11 days for the Eagles due to rain postponements and religious holidays.

"The kids have gotten regenerated and excited about the opportunity," Head Coach Steve Schultze said of the break.

Osbourn is riding a five-game winning streak as they turn their attention to Broad Run, a new school to the Cedar Run District that appears to be a force to be reckoned with. The Spartans move into AAA from AA, where they won the state championship two years in a row in 2008 and 2009.

"They are an impressive team and we are certainly excited about it," Schultze said.

Broad Run's only loss of the season came in a one-point overtime loss to defending state runner-up Stone Bridge Bulldogs. The only similar opponent between the Eagles and the Spartans is Forest Park, a team that Osbourn defeated, 52-7 and Broad Run beat, 29-14.

"They have a pretty good offense, so I'm hoping to keep the ball away from their offense and make plays on defense," Schultze concluded.

Editor's Note: As of 10:30 a.m. Friday, the game has not been postponed due to the weather. Please call the school's activity hotline for up-to-date scheduling information at 571-377-7070.
