Eagles' Friday Night Lights

Osbourn football kicks off with G-F scrimmage

With the end of summer nearing, the focus of Friday nights in Manassas City will shift from pool parties and cookouts to Osbourn football games.

The Eagles will begin their preseason schedule Thursday, Aug. 11, at home against Gar-Field High School at 7 p.m. This is the first of two scrimmages during the preseason; the other being away against Stafford High School on August 18 at 6 p.m.

The regular season kicks off the week of Aug. 26 with a home opener against Brooke Point. It starts the team on a 10-week schedule (listed below) which, unlike in years past, does not include a bye week. All of the games are on Friday nights, with the exception of the Battlefield game, which will take place on Thursday, October 6 due to the Yom Kippur holiday.

The schedule is grouped by districts, with the first two games coming from Commonwealth district foes, the next four from Cardinal district opponents, and the final four games against fellow Cedar Run district rivals.

The game against Freedom of Loudoun County on October 28 not only marks the final game of the regular season for the Eagles, and is also the Homecoming game.
