Manassas Mixed Martial Artists Participate in Sterling Event
Manassas fighters competed in the cage this weekend as OO Fights held its 21st event in Sterling on Saturday.
Saturday was another stacked card from Northern Virginia's leading fight promotion. Twenty-one amatuer and professionals fights came close to crowning two new OO Fight champs and thrilling the packed house at Dulles Sportsplex in Sterling.
The undercard had the usual excellent match-making OO Fights always delivers with some great highlights including Christian Banghart's submission of Shawn Carter. In the usual show of great sportsmanship amongst fighters, when Carter failed to tap and went unconscious, Banghart held his legs up to help increase blood flow to his head until Carter woke up from his brief nap—making sure his opponent was OK before celebrating his victory.
Erik Krondstadt won his match against Nick Mansburger with a slick triangle choke, and it was announced that Kronstadt will be headlining the next event in December in Manassas Park.

The professional fights on the card started out a little slow with WCW star Craig "The Pittbull" Pittman facing local coach Tony Horn with the fight going the distance. Pittman won the unanimous decision, but neither fighter ever put their opponent in danger.
Vanguard Gym fighter Elder Ramos made very short work of his opponent Jeremy Boardwine, getting a submission victory in just 43 seconds by heel hook. In an early display of charitable Christmas spirit, Ramos donated his fight purse from the event to help with medical bills for a local child with cancer.

Not every fight on the card left the fans feeling warm and fuzzy afterwards. Devon Mosley won a split decision over controversial fighter Willie "No Love" Floyd. Moseley's game plan irritated Floyd, who spent much of the first two rounds chasing his elusive opponent.
Mosley stayed on the outside and landed numerous explosive leg kicks, and evading most of Floyd's offense. Floyd caught up with Mosley in the third round and spent most of the final stanza raining down punishment on his foe, but it was too little, too late in the eyes of two of the three judges. After the match heated words continued to be exchanged and the crowd seemed eager to see these two warriors face off again.
In the main event, Terrell Hobbs reversed a take down by Neil Johnson and quickly took Johnson's back. From there, he sunk in a rear-naked choke beating his fellow Bellator veteran in the first round.
