Photos: Centreville Wildcats Stop Stonewall, Readies for Rival Westfield in Finals

The Raiders of Manassas ended their season 8-5.

Centreville High School will play in the Virginia 6A North Finals after rolling over its opponent from just across the national battlefield on Saturday in the third round of the football playoffs.

The Wildcats crushed the number 13-ranked Stonewall Jackson High School Raiders of Manassas 52-27.

The Thanksgiving feasting and time off from school obviously didn't break the focus of the undefeated team, which played Stonewall on Saturday, because of the holiday.

Before the showdown, Wildcats Coach Chris Haddock said what he expected of his team in practice was no different than what he's expected all year.

The only thing that changed was the practice times, he added.
The team practiced at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday, and practiced early Thursday morning, he said.

And it obviously paid off.
Next up is a game against another neighbor—the number three-ranked Westfield High School Bulldogs. Centreville and Westfield met on the gridiron earlier this year on Oct. 11, when the Wildcats blanked the Bulldogs, handing them their second and final loss of the season. The final score was 0-28.
Westfield is 11-2 after defeating number-two ranked Lake Braddock High 19-16.  Lake Braddock ended its season with just one loss.
