CERT Members Conduct Triage Training

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members train at Mayfield on Saturday morning.

The Manassas Community Emergency Response Team conducted preparedness training Saturday at Mayfield Intermediate School

The CERT team met at the local middle school early Saturday morning to set up and take down triage tent kits purchased through a federal Citizen Preparedness Grant from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

The triage tents are used for prioritizing patients involved in a mass casualty event, said CERT volunteer Brian Maceyak.

Maceyak said he hopes  the triage tents will never have to be used in a real emergency because "that would be bad."

"There's something for everyone to do," Maceyak said.

"We need at least six volunteers to make the class financially worth having," Halsall said.

Currently, there are four people signed up for the training class. "If this class fails to gain momentum, our next class will be held in the spring," Halsall said.
