Old Town Manassas Holiday Magic, a Signing Santa, and 20, Themed Christmas Trees

Children can visit with a signing Santa Claus at Fair Oaks Mall this week.

Deaf and hard-of-hearing children can make their Christmas wishes known to Santa and Mrs. Claus on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 10 to 9:30 p.m. at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax. Meet the Christmas couple in the Ice Palace in the mall's grand court where they will  communicate using American Sign Language.

The 68th Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade will march through the streets of Old Town Manassas at 10 a.m. Sat., Dec. 7.  This year's theme is, "Miracle on Center Street." Find more information at visitmanassas.org .

The Osbourn Park High School Chorus, directed by Dominick Izzo, will participate in the Holiday Singalong at George Mason University Center for the Arts in Fairfax at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.  
 In addition to the high school chorus, the Combined University Chorale, the University Singers and the Mason Symphony Orchestra will all take the stage. General admission tickets are just $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and non-GMU students and free for GMU students. Purchase tickets at the box office in Fairfax (open Tuesday-Saturday 10 to 6 p.m.) or charge by phone at 888-945-2468 or visit cfa.gmu.edu.

Stop at The Things I Love gift shop this week to see the store's 20, themed Christmas trees. The Old Town Manassas shop's overall theme this season is "Christmas in Virginia."  Some of the tree themes are: Virginia vineyards, Virginia ski slopes and Virginia Farms.  The store is located at 9084 Center St. 

The Merry Old Town Christmas Tree Lighting is Friday, Dec. 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Manassas Museum on Prince William Street. 

Danu': Christmas in Ireland will hit the stage at 8 p.m. Friday at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on the George Mason University Manassas campus.

Whimsical Galerie of Old Town Manassas continues its massive semi-retirement sale this week at 9070 Center St. The store closes its doors for good in mid-December, but plans to go out with bang by hosting drawings, treasure hunts and other fun events.  Get more info at visitmanassas.org. 

The Old Town Merchants' Open House is from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. The free event is a time for shoppers to meet the owners of the small businesses that make up Old Town Manassas and check out their merchandise.  A few of the businesses will serve light refreshments during the event.  Get more info on the Old Town Business Association website
