Audition for Peter Pan, Whip Some Buttercream and Get the Dog Licensed

Only five spay/neuter coupons remain at the Prince William County Animal Shelter. The coupons are worth $25 to $50 off of a dog or cat surgery. Without the coupon, the price to spay a cat is usually $75.  The cost of a male cat is $50. For dogs, the regular price is anywhere from  $125 to $225 depending on weight. Coupon holders must make surgery appointments by Feb. 15. 

The Manassas Chorale will welcome its new singers this week. The chorale is having an open rehearsal, Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Manassas Baptist Church to prepare for its Voices United concert on May 22. 

The Manassas Finance Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 in the second floor conference room in Manassas City Hall. Several amendments to the budget are on the agenda for consideration.

Learn how to make five different types of buttercream from Jason Shriner, better known as The Aubergine Chef, who will be teaching a class at the Manassas Park Community Center beginning Thursday. The class is from 6 to 9 p.m. for five weeks. Students will learn how to make American, Swiss, German, Italian and French butter crime from scratch. Children ages 8 to 18 can now audition for a part in the Candy Factory Center for the Arts production of "Peter Pan Jr." Call the factory at 703-330-2787 to make an appointment to audition. Auditions are Feb. 7 and 8 with callback on Feb. 9. 

Attend a lecture on the 1864 battle of Cold Harbor. Historians discuss one of the bloodies conflicts of the war. The free lecture is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Old Manassas Courthouse on 9248 Lee St. in Manassas.

Jan. 31 is the deadline to purchase or renew 2014 dog licenses. All dogs over the age of four months and living in Prince William County must be licensed in the county.
