Willy Wonka Jr., Pole Dancing, Free Wedding Dresses and Osbourn High Scoreboard

Plus hear a little, "Jazz for Justice" at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.

Free Wedding Dresses. Jeanette's Bride 'N Boutique in the Manassas area will give away about 150 free wedding gowns to military brides-to-be and the fiancees of military personnel on Veterans Day. Dresses will be given away on Monday on a first-come, first-serve basis to brides who have pre-registere online at bridesacrossamerica.com. There is a $20 registration fee. The store opens at 10 a.m. and is located at 10386 Festival Lane just off Sudley Road and across from the Manassas Mall. 

Senior Citizens Holiday Celebration. 
Registration is now open for the annual Senior Citizens Holiday Celebration on Dec. 2 at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. The event is free, but reservations are required because space is limited. Make reservations at 703-257-6558. Reservations will close once all the space is taken.  
Group Talks Standardize Tests Scores. A meeting about the future of the Standards of Learning tests all Virginia children take each spring is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at La Quinta Inn (former Sheraton Hotel) at 10800 Vandor Lane in the Manassas area. The meeting is hosted by the Prince William Committee of 100 and will focus on SOL testing in Prince William County Public Schools. 

Topics will include leaving the SOLs as currently imposed, improving them or deleting SOLs in consideration of a “Common Core” curriculum.

The event will be held at La Quinta, formerly the Sheraton by Four Points, at 10800 Vandor Lane, Manassas.


Osbourn High School Scoreboard Replacement. 
The school board of Manassas City Public Schools will consider the replacement of an outdoor scoreboard at Osbourn High School during its regular business meeting at 6:30 p.m.Tuesday at central office at 8700 Centreville Rd. Life on the Pole. 
The Manassas location of Aradia Pole Fitness is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the franchise on Friday at 7:30 p.m.  Aradia Fitness was founded in Canada in 2003 and opened a location in Manassas earlier this year. 
The Manassas location is at 9705 Liberia Ave. Suite 398, just above Gold's Gym.  

Candy Factory Takes on the Chocolate Factory.
The Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory's production of  Willy Wonka Jr., a play about a famous chocolate factory, will hit the stage Saturday at 7 p.m. at Metz Middle School in Manassas. Fall in love all over again with the characters from Ronald Dahl's book, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" played by more than 40 local young actors.

Can't make it Saturday? There's a production on Sunday at 4 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Center for the Arts website

That's Some Nunsense. Rooftop Productions presents the play Nunsense on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory's Kellar Theatre.  Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students and those 65 and over. Read more about the play and purchase tickets here. 

Manassas Annual Neighborhood Conference The 7th Annual City of Manassas Neighborhood Conference is Saturday from 10  to 4 p.m. at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College at 6901 Sudley Rd.
The conference will show residents how to use local resources to bridge cultures, education and service in our neighborhoods.  The conference features free training to educate and empower residents at adult seminars and a youth café.   There will be exhibitors, door prizes and free lunch for all participants.

Jazz for Justice. The last Jazz for Justice concert is 8 p.m. on Friday at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. The performance will feature Catherine S. Croft, president-elect and director of the Prince William County Bar Foundation Inc. as special guest conductor. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
