The Weekend:Haunted Happenings, Floating Gourds and Fall 4 Fur

Lots and lots of fall fun this weekend in Manassas and Prince William County.

Friday

Floating Goard Family Fun Night is Friday in the Manassas Park Community Center pool. Jump in the pool and try to capture one of the oiled-up floating pumpkins.  After some swimming, families can together decorate the gourds. Event is open to children ages 6 to 12. It's only $5 per person and the fun is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. More info at 703-335-8872. 

Two Times the Dracula. The main vampire who draws the crowds this time of year will be drawing twice as many this weekend at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Prince William Little Theatre’s “Dracula” will hold three performances this weekend, beginning Friday. Also this weekend, The Manassas Ballet Theatre performs “Dracula” on Saturday and Sunday. PWLT’s Dracula: $15 (discounts for children, seniors). MBT’s Dracula: from $25. Dates and times vary. Saturday

“Wheel. Of. Fortune.” The Wheelmobile will be pulling into Woodbridge this weekend. The popular game show is looking for D.C.-area contestants. Includes souvenir prizes for all participants. Free. 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 15151 Potomac Town Place, Woodbridge.

Halloween is next week, but get into some "Haunted Happenings" from 10 to 2 p.m. on Saturday in Old Town Manassas. Bring your children dressed in their best costumes to Manassas City Hall at 10 a.m. sharp to register for the costume contest.  Then, ease on down the road (Center Street, actually) and stop in the stores for some candy, games, prizes and crafts. Fall 4 Fur, a two-day adopt-A-thon is from 9 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Prince William County Animal Shelter. The event is a combined effort of the county and the Prince William County Humane Society. 
The event will feature special adoption promotions, discounts and free spaying and neutering for pets adopted during the event. Refreshments and Halloween treats will also be served. Get more info at PWHumane.org. The shelter is located at 14807 Bristow Rd. in the Manassas area of the county. 

Let's Do the Time Warp. It takes a special event to get us outdoors near midnight at the end of October. Rocky? That’d do it. Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center is putting its jumbo screen to good use this weekend with a late-night screening of“The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a cult-classic musical starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon. Free. 11:30 p.m. Saturday, 15151 Potomac Town Place, Woodbridge.

Xi Delta Gamma’s Scholarship Fund "Crop" Scrapbooking event is 9 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel Lutheran Church at 8712 Plantation Lane in Manassas. 
For $30 get: a reserved spot, make and takes, door prizes, lunch and dinner. Consultants from scrapbooking companies like Creative Memories, Close to My Heart and Stampin' Up will be at the event. Email Julie Brill at Julie.Brill@opm.gov to reserve a spot. 

Adult Costume Kickball a Costello Park in Manassas Park is from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.  Get dressed up in your Halloween costume and come play a fun game of kickball. Seven friends are needed to form a team. Fees are $50.00 per team and it activity #3877. Call 703-335-8872 for more details.
