Scotch Whiskey Tasting, Wizard of Oz Production and a day at the Manassas Museum

See what's happening in Prince William County this weekend.

~From now until Feb. 12, see the work of the late Washington Post editorial cartoonist Herb Block, known as “Herblock,” in a Manassas Museum called “The Long March.”  

The exhibit chronicles the Civil Rights movement, which was one of the Pulitzer Prize winner’s chief concerns.  

~Celebrate the anniversary of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns at 6 p..m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at the 2nd annual Burns Night Supper in the Gregory Family Theater at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.

The formal dinner features pomp and pageantry fit to honor the life and works of this prolific poet and lyricist. Performances by award-winning duo Elke Baker and Ken Kolodner,  poetry reading, a Scotch whiskey tasting provided by Glenfiddich and the presentation of Scotland’s national dish, Haggis are all included in this event. Tickets are $97 per person. ~ Catch a performance of The Wizard of Oz presented by the Center for the Arts’ Pied Piper Theatre this weekend.  The play contains a special message about green living in the Emerald City, with a creative mention of Manassas-based American Disposal Company.

Performances are at 2 p.m. and 7 p..m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26 at The Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.  General admission tickets are $12 and $10 for children 12 and under.  Purchase tickets at hyltoncenter.org or call 703-993-7550. 

~Take one of the Manassas Museum walking tours offered at 11 a.m. every Saturday.  The tours are free with paid admission to the museum. On inclement weather days, the walks will be held inside the museum. 

~ The 12-hour Fundraiser Crop for the Brentsville District High School Booster Club is from 10 to 10 p.m. in the high school's cafeteria at 12109 Aden Rd. Consultants from Heritage Makers and Ahni & Zoe will be there to help attendees with work on their family photo albums. Fee is $40. RSVP to Susie Frizzle at susiefrizzle@gmail.com 

~Join state Democratic Sen. George Barker of the 39th District and Republican Del. Richard Anderson of the 51st District for the Annual Joint Tall Hall from 10 to 12 p.m. on Sat. Jan. 25. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss bills that are being considered in the 2014 General Assembly which is currently in session. The meeting is in the Prince William County Board of County Supervisors Chambers in the McCoart Government Complex at 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge. 

~Join the Manassas Museum for a free Book Talk at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26  featuring Robert S. Pohl’s book, Urban Legends & Lore of Washington, D.C.  Pohl, a tour guide in the District, writes about both popular and lesser-known Washington legends. 

Other events outside Manassas this weekend

~Learn the basics of gardening starting from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 4545 Daisy Reid Ave., suite 150 in Woodbridge. The registration fee is $45. Please call 703-792-7747 for more information and a registration form.

~If you have a Pokemon fan in the family, the Dale City Neighborhood Library is hosting Pokemon Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the library 4249 Dale Blvd. in Dale City. Participants can play games and earn points toward badges. Register online.

~Seeing double isn’t a bad thing at The Workhouse Arts Center this weekend. The Unquiet Theatre Company will be presenting a One-Act Festival with two stories from Ellen Cribbs: Pandemic and Voices in the Dark. From $5. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
