Off the Wall, Famed Cartoonist, Reading with Rover—All this Weekend

See what's happening this weekend in Prince William County.

Off the Wall. "Off the Wall," the must-see area high school student exhibit sponsored by Lockheed Martin is at the Candy Factory Center for the Arts in Manassas until Jan. 29.  For the past 10 years talented students bring their best and share amazing talents in an array of media.

See Washington Post cartoonist's work. From now until Feb. 12  see the work of legendary Washington Post editorial cartoonist Herb Block, known as “Herblock,” in this new exhibit at the Manassas Museum called “The Long March.”  The exhibit chronicles the Civil Rights movement, which was one of the Pulitzer Prize winner’s chief concerns.   Block died in 2001 after working as a cartoonist for more than 70 years, 50 with the Post. 

Manassas/PWC Track Club Interest Meeting. A parents' interest meeting for the  Mustangs Track Club is from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bull Run Library Regional Library in Manassas.  The track club is for children ages 4 to 14. Prince William County is hosting a home ownership seminar for tips on your first-time home buying experience. Learn about choosing the right mortgage type, finding a real estate agent, and understanding credit. The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sudley North Building in the McCoy Conference Room on 7987 Ashton Ave. in Manassas. Winter Swimming Lessons. Weekend swim lessons start on Saturday at the Manassas Park Community Center, but only a few student slots remain.  Space is available in the following classes: Sat 9 a.m. Adult Lap  (4158), Sat 10 a.m. Parent-Child (4161), Sat 11:30 a.m. Preschool Level 1 (4182), Sat 12:15 p.m. School Age Level 1 (4236), Sun 11:30 a.m. Toddler and Me (4169) and Sun 1 p.m. School Age Level 1 (4240).

Reading With Rover. This Sunday is the “Reading with Rover” program at the Chinn Park Regional Library. Children ages 6-10 can read to registered therapy dogs. The event is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the library on 13065 Chinn Park Drive in Prince William County. No registration is required.

Exploratory Walk. The Prince William Trails & Streams Coalition is conducting an exploratory walk through Doves Landing, an old farm site. The walk begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at 9113 Doves Lane in Manassas. Find out more information.

Fresh Farmer's Market. Get fresh produce, beverages, baked goods, and more at the City of Manassas Farmer’s Market. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lot B on the intersection of Prince William Street and West Street in Manassas. 

Super Science Saturday. This weekend is “Super Science Saturday” at the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly. Participants can view demonstrations and check out hands-on activities related to science, technology, and engineering. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center on 14390 Air & Space Museum Way. Admission is free, parking is $15.
