Matthew 25:35 Concert, Dance the Bachata at the Candy Factory and Go "Off the Wall"

Plus, you can learn to dance the Bachata like a pro.

The third annual Matthew 25:35 Concert is 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4. at Grace United Methodist Church in Manassas.

The concert was founded by two students, Steven Field, a sophomore at Christopher Newport University, and Michelle Hettmann, a sophomore at Virginia Tech University.
 The focus of this year's concert is jail and prison ministries, Field said.  The focus is taking from the latter part of the Bible book of Matthew chapter 25 verse 35 which reads, "For I was in prison and you came to visit me."  

Spectators are urged to bring items to donate to All God's Children, a camp for children with incarcerated parents and Kairos Prison Ministries

Sought items for the camp are:

-new sleeping bags (solid colors)
-flat sheets, no fitted sheets (solid colors, no characters)
-pillows
-pillowcases-shower totes with handles

Sought items for Kairos prison ministers who bake cookies for the inmates are:
-flour
-sugar
-brown sugar
-chocolate chips
 
Monetary donations for the two causes and the Prince William County Adult Detention Center will also be collected at the concert which will feature music from local performers and those from all across Virginia. 

Here are some other fun events in the Manassas area this weekend: 

Sunday Dance at the Candy Factory Center for the Arts at 9419 Battle St. in Manassas  
A 30-minute lesson begins at 3:30 p.m., open dance session from 4-6 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for lesson and dance -$10 per person for dance only. This Sunday's lesson is the Bachata.

“Off the Wall”, a high school student media exhibit, continues this weekend at the Candy Factory. This is the 10th year for the event.  See it in the Caton Merchant Family Theater inside the Candy Factory. 

Prince William County Fire and Rescue will be doing car seat checks from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and Friday Dec. 10 at Chick-fil-A and Super Target in Sowder Village Square on Nokesville Road on the Bristow-Manassas area border.
