Herbert J. Saunders Middle School was named after the former superintendent of Prince William County Public School System. The school was established in 1981 at the old Ferlazzo building in Woodbridge. Saunders moved to its current location in 1988 and students come from Dale City, Montclair, and Woodbridge. The school offers several activities and clubs including, before and after school tutorials, homework club, computer club, math counts, sign language club and art club. Remedial math and reading is also offered. Athletics of the school include track and field, volleyball, and cheerleading. Saunders is a fully accredited school that has achieved adequate yearly progress. A School of Excellence recipient, it is a family-friendly school that encourages and supports student and parent involvement.
