Gang Member in 'Mickey' Hernandez Murder Pleads Guilty

Boris Alfredo Juarez Ascencio, 19, of Fairfax, has pleaded guilty to charges in the death of 15-year-old Miguel 'Mickey' Hernandez.

The suspect in the death of 15-year-old Miguel 'Mickey' Hernandez has pleaded guilty to charges of first degree murder and criminal gang activity. Boris Alfredo Juarez Ascencio, 19, of Fairfax, was in court this week for a jury trial, but changed his pleas from not guilty to guilty, according to a report on InsideNova.com. The charges stem from the stabbing death of Hernandez as he walked home from Osbourn High School to his home in Georgetown South in the fall of 2010.  Juarez Ascencio is described as a member of local gang MS-13, who fatally stabbed Hernandez in the chest because he thought he was a member of a rival gang. Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs Dies at 56

Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. Many couldn't do their jobs as easily without your reliable products. Your innovative spirit will be greatly missed.

Steve Jobs, former chief executive officer and co-founder of Apple, died Oct. 5. He was 56. This news follows close upon the heels of Jobs stepping down as Apple CEO on Aug. 24 of this year. Jobs was ill for much of the past decade: he suffered from pancreatic cancer, and, in 2009, he had a liver transplant. Hailed as a visionary, Jobs is often credited with many of Apple's iconic products, such as the MacBook, the iPhone, and the iPad. The Los Angeles Times tracks Jobs' career from college dropout to Apple CEO and his purchase of the "small computer graphics division" that he renamed Pixar. Family, Friends Gather to Remember Fallen Soldier

Manassas Church holds "celebration of life" in honor of local fallen soldier, Sean R. Cutsforth.

U.S. Army Specialist Sean R. Cutsforth grew up in Manassas and was remembered Wednesday night by friends and family at Bethel Lutheran Church as a devoted teammate, friend, son, brother and husband. Tables set up around the church contained items that highlighted Sean's life and accomplishments. His wife, Ashely Cutsforth, told the Washington Post, "He was one of those genuine all-around, would-do-anything-for-anybody type of persons." Sean was killed by small-arms fire in the Ghazni province of Afghanistan on Dec. 15, according to a news release sent out by Fort Campbell. He was 22 years old. He joined the Army in February 2008 and was stationed at Fort Campbell in Tennessee in 2009. That's where he lived with his wife before being …
