The Osbourn boys basketball team won their first regional game against G.W. Danville on Tuesday night.
The Osbourn boys basketball team has been in this position before. Just last season, the Eagles hosted all of their regional games and ended up finishing second in the region. This year Osbourn is determined to prove they are the best team in the region and maybe even the best team in the state. The first obstacle standing in the Eagles' way for that title was G.W. Danville, and the two teams squared off on Tuesday night at Osbourn. Osbourn is a team that always packs the house when they play and last night was no different. The seats were packed with the Eagle faithful for the big game. Osbourn would not disappoint the home crowd as they took control of the game early and never let up. The Eagles used great defense and transition offense…

The Osbourn boys basketball team beat Woodbridge Monday night and remain undefeated for the season.
The Eagles team traveled to Woodbridge on Monday night to take on the Vikings in a non-district match-up. Osbourn came into the game having won their first four games and knew it would be a tough contest against the Vikings. Osbourn's core group of seniors quickly took over the game. By the time it was all said and done, Osbourn ran away with a 78-54 victory to improve 5-0 for the season. The Eagles jumped out early and it was one of those games in which Osbourn was in control from the opening tip. The Eagles are a team that thrives on great defense and running to score in transition. That is exactly what they were able to do against Woodbridge with 16 steals as a team. The Eagles once again got a balanced output from multiple players. …

Osbourn's boys basketball team remain undefeated, topping the Indians of Stafford on Wednesday night.
The Osbourn Eagles boys basketball team traveled to Stafford on Wednesday night to take on the Indians in a non-district match-up. The Eagles had already won their first two games of the season and were looking to remain on top. The Indians of Stafford came out playing hard, but despite the effort, it just wasn't enough to contain the many weapons that the Eagles have this season. Osbourn was in control for the majority of the game and really opened the lead up late. The strong showing eventually lead to the Eagles winning by a final score of 83-66. Osbourn had to make some adjustments as their starting big man, Raphael Edwards was out of action for precautionary reasons after being in a minor automobile crash. That meant Senior and first …

Eagles head coach, Steve Shultze reportedly stepping down to focus on his personal life and take a break after turning the football program around.
Steve Schultze is stepping down as head coach of the Osbourn High School football team. The Washington Post is reporting Schultze broke the news to his team Tuesday morning that he was resigning from the position to take a break and focus on his personal life. Schultze is credited with turning the team around after coming onboard in 2002, when the team had lost nearly 30 games. Just four years later, he led the team to a 14-0 record and state championship title. The Eagles were also state championship contenders in 2008 and 2010. The team has made it to the playoffs six times in the past seven years. Shultze told the Post it was the talent at Osbourn that made him come back to his alma mater as coach to help "get it going." Last-minute change takes Gar-Field out of playoffs, Osbourn back in.
Thursday, November 10, 2011
Osbourn travels to Gar-Field for quarterfinals of football regional playoffs.
November is settling in and only 24 AAA Division 6 football teams remain in the state of Virginia. The Osbourn Eagles (7-3, 3-1) are one of them. For the sixth time in the past seven seasons, Head Coach Steve Schultze has taken the Eagles to the post-season. Saturday the team travels to Gar-Field High School to take on the Indians (8-2, 5-1) at 1 p.m. "It's a great feeling and it's exciting," Schultze said. "I'm definitely proud to be in the playoffs again." The Eagles and Indians did not meet in the regular season, but are not unfamiliar opponents. The two teams scrimmaged in the pre-season—a match-up in which Osbourn scored multiple times and did not give up a score. "We feel prepared," Schultze said. "They've won some games; they are …

Osbourn handles Freedom-South Riding, 38-3.
The Osbourn (7-3, 3-1) football team wrapped up their regualr season as they cruised to a 38-3 victory over Freedom-South Riding (1-8, 0-3). The Eagles jumped out to a quick 28-0 lead in the first quarter. After piling on a quick 10 points in the second quarter to extend the lead to 38-0, Head Coach Steve Schultze slowed it down a bit. "We jumped out early and it was nice to get some of the younger guys into the game," Schultze said. "They have been working hard all season too and they were excited to play on a Friday night, it was good." With the absence of senior running back Cedrick Delaney, who did not play due to a hamstring injury, senior Robert Carter and junior Connor Lane led the Eagles offensively. Carter started the scoring with…

The Eagles host Freedom-South Riding for regular season closer, is there a playoff game in their future if they lose?
Osbourn (6-3, 2-1) looks to end the regular season on a high note as they host Freedom-South Riding (1-7, 0-2) on Friday night. After getting off to an unusually slow 0-2 start, the Eagles have won six of their last seven games. Their only loss came on the road against Broad Run by a single touch down. This week's match-up is the last game of the regular season, but not the last game of the season if Osbourn can defeat Freedom—a team that has struggled all season. With the win, Osbourn will be in good position to continue into the postseason. Going into the final week of the season, Osbourn, Broad Run, and Battlefield all sit in a three-way tie atop the Cedar Run District. If all three teams win this weekend, the district championship …

Spartans stuff Eagles on final drive for the win
Osbourn (5-3, 1-1) had its five-game winning streak snapped Friday night after the team was defeated, 27-20 by Broad Run (6-1, 1-0). The Eagles were faced with a first and goal from the Spartan eight yard line in the final minutes of the game, but were unable to convert on four straight rushing attempts. On first and second down, junior quarterback Connor Lane carried the ball for three yards each time. With only two yards to go, Osbourn turned to running back Cedrick Delaney, who was stuffed a three-yard loss twice. Delaney carried the ball 33 times for a total of 175 yards on the night, but was held scoreless for the first time this season. Lane added 38 yards rushing on 11 attempts and made major contributions through the air. He …

Cedar Run District football powerhouses face-off Thursday night.
Osbourn faces its first—and likely toughest—district game as they host Battlefield tonight at 7 p.m. The Eagles are coming off a four game win streak, but will that be enough to propel them to victory? "Battlefield is always good. They are well coached and don't shoot themselves in the foot, so we need to be aggressive," Head Coach Steve Schultze said. "I'm excited, it's always a great game." Although this is the first district game of the season, it carries a little more weight than a normal district opener. Since 2005, Battlefield or Osbourn has won the Cedar Run District title. The Eagles are reigning district champions and the Bobcats are reigning AAA Division 6 state champions. The match-up has all the ingredients of a great high …
