A man was arrested Monday after a fight with a known acquaintance escalated.
Police in Prince William County have arrested a man accused of attacking another man sending him to a nearby hosptial with non-life threatening injuries The incident happened on Monday shortly before 6 p.m. in a neighborhood located in the 10800 block of Gambril Drive off of Sudley Manor Drive in the Manassas area of Prince William County. The victim, identified by police as a 25-year-old man of Manassas, told police that he was involved in a verbal altercation with a known aquaitance which escalated. According to police, Frederick Michael Handy, 28, of no known address, attacked the victim, striking him numerous times in the head and face before fleeing to a nearby building. Police are seeking the public's help to find the people responsible for a double stabbing Friday night at a party.
Manassas City Police is investigating after two males were stabbed at a party Friday night. Officers were advised of a party taking place in the 10300 block of 7th Regiment Drive around 2:40 a.m, April 20. They were told a group of black males arrived to the party and started fighting with other people in attendance, which resulted in two males being stabbed. One male was stabbed in the arm and the other male was stabbed several times in the upper torso and had to be flown out to a regional hospital due to the extent of his injuries, police said Saturday. Officers said they used a taser to break up the fight after those involved ignored officers' commands to stop fighting.
Three women between the ages of 19 and 28 have been charged in connection with a fight that broke out in Georgetown South Friday. According to Manassas City Police, officers responded to the intersection of Byrd Drive and Aspen Place for a report of a fight at about 2:20 p.m. April 13. Police noticed several females fighting upon arrival, and had to use a taser to break up the fight after the women ignored the officers' commands to stop fighting. Three women were arrested: Leann Renae Harris of 9251 Byrd Drive was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice in the incident. Police arrested four area men following a fight in the 2600 block of Prince William Parkway Wednesday night. Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathon Perok said police responded to the area for a fight in progress and found the two victims. The victims, 22-year-old Woodbridge men, reported to police they were inside a local restaurant when one of them got into a verbal altercation with a group of unknown men. As the two men tried to leave they encountered the same group of men in the parking lot where a fight ensued, said Perok. Police said one of the victims sustained severe, non-life threatening injuries as a result of the fight. The other victim reported minor injuries. Manassas area man arrested, charged following a brawl between two women in Old Town, police said.
A Manassas Park man was arrested Sunday following a brawl between two women in Old Town Manassas, Manssas City Police Sgt. Edwin Rivera said. Gregory M. Harris of 353 Moseby Court is charged with assault on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest and public intoxication, according to a press release issued by Manassas Police. It happened at 2:05 a.m. when police saw two women arguing. That's when a they noticed a man grab one of the woman from behind as if he was going to assault her, Rivera said. A police officer tried to break up the brawl and was assaulted in the process. Harris was arrested and taken to the Prince William County Adult Detention center and held on a $1,500 bond. Northern Virginia can add another name to its roster of local mixed martial arts stars as Mike Pope of Manassas’ Vanguard gym wins gold at the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition.
Pope traveled to Long Beach, California to compete in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (IBJJ) No-Gi Championship. No-Gi refers to competition without the traditional Gi martial arts uniform and the IBJJ competition is one of the largest submission grappling competitions in the world. Pope came home with the Gold Medal, after winning the middleweight (170 pound) Blue Belt Division. He entered a field of over 40 opponents from all over the world, submitting five and out pointing another by 20 points to win the gold. He also recently won the gold at this year’s No-Gi Pan-Am competition in New York City.
