Vision for Vacancies: Old Town Post Office Building
A portion of the building houses a post office, and will for at least another 90 years, but the other part of the Old Town location has been vacant for awhile. What would you like to see there?
The bid for the Old Town Post office building in Manassas was recently rejected by U.S. Marshals, meaning the building could sit vacant for even longer. The property sold for $385,000 in an April U.S. Marshals Service-ordered auction, but that price was not high enough for federal authorities who are trying to pay back victims of a mortgage fraud scheme. According to The Washington Post, the bid was upped to $400,000, but that didn't cut it either. The property is listed at just below $700,000, and the Post reported that federal authorities are willing to hold out for a good price.
