Suspect charged with malicious wounding, according to Prince William County Police.
Prince William County Police said a Manassas man seriously injured an acquaintance during an argument that turned violent. Derek Scott Lett, 22, of Teakwood Court in the Manassas area, is charged with malicious wounding. Scott and the 27-year-old victim were arguing Wednesday night on the 10900 block of Postern Court in Manassas, when the altercation turned violent, police said. "During the encounter, the accused allegedly grabbed the victim, causing him to fall down a set of steps," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release. Prince William County Police said Lucas Balmoris Orellana Chicas is accused of raping an acquaintance Tuesday.
Prince William County Police are searching for a man who is accused of raping an acquaintance. Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Lucas Balmoris Orellana Chicas, 34, of no fixed address. On Tuesday at 4:01 p.m., police responded to the 8100 block of Community Drive in the Manassas area, where a 19-year-old Manassas woman reported a rape. She told police that she and Orellano Chicas were inside a residence in the area when he raped her, said police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok. After the assault, a friend of the victim confronted Orellana Chicas in front of the residence and a fight broke out. Orellana Chicas was able to get away and fled on foot, Perok said. Sabrina Ann Corra-Reynolds, the Glenkirk Elementary PTO treasurer, is charged with two counts of embezzlement.
The treasurer of the Glenkirk Elementary Parent Teacher Organization was arrested Monday amid accusations that she embezzled funds from the PTO, Prince William County Police said. Sabria Ann Corra-Reynolds, 35, of Sheringham Way in Gainesville, is charged with two counts of embezzlement. Police said that Corra-Reynolds used funds to rent a vehicle and purchase a child's dresser between Dec. 11 and April 16, for a total of $2,200. The PTO raises money from fundraisers and donations. Police began the investigation on April 15, after Prince William County Schools detected discrepancies, said police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok. Former Prince William County Police Chief Charlie Deane received the The Police Executive Research Forum's highest honor, the Leadership Award, on May 3. PERF, a research organization made up of police executives from large law enforcement agencies, presented the award to Deane at their annual meeting in Milwaukee. They cited Deane's leadership during the "Beltway Sniper" case, the "East Coast Rapist" investigation, and as the Board of County Supervisors devised an immigration policy. Two horses that perished in Nokesville on Friday died accidentally, Prince William County Police said.
Update (May 6, 8:55 p.m.): According to the owner of the horses, the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center has not concluded its investigation into the cause of death. The owner tells Patch the autopsies are pending. The vets investigating have noted that it's possible that the death was an accident, but there has not been a final determination, according to the owner. The man cashed multiple checks that were reported stolen from a Manassas business, Manassas City Police said.
A man cashed over $9,000 worth of checks that were stolen from a local business, Manassas City Police said. Police are looking for information about the man, pictured above, who cashed the checks at three different branches of TD Bank: one in Dumfries, another in Georgetown and another in Dale City. The man cashed the checks on April 5 and 6, police said. Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Heilman at 703-257-8045, bheilman@manassasva.gov or Rosi Guyton at 703-257-8088, rguyton@manassasva.gov. Officers from the Prince William County Police Department gathered in Washington, D.C. on a drizzly Tuesday morning to honor Prince William County Police Officer Chris Yung, who died while responding to an incident on New Year's Eve. Yung's name was added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, alongside 19,000 other officers who have been killed in the line of duty. The names of 319 other fallen law enforcement officers will be added to the memorial this spring, which include 120 officers who died in 2012. A local teenager faces charges after a series of vehicle thefts, a burglary and the explosion of a stolen vehicle over the weekend in the Gainesville area, Prince William County Police said. Police responded on Friday at 11:34 p.m. to the 8500 block of Foal Court, where a homeowner reported a stolen DVD player. The homeowner said that sometime between 9 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday, a thief entered an attached garage through an open door and opened an unlocked vehicle. The DVD player, valued around $300, was inside.
