The cost of mailing a domestic letter increased by one penny to 45 cents Sunday. What's the lowest rate you remember?

As the cost of mailing a domestic letter increased for the first time in more than two years this week, many thought back to the days when it cost a little more than a few pennies to mail a written correspondence. Price of Stamps Increased By One Penny on Sunday

The price to mail a standard letter is now 46 cents.

The price to mail a letter or bills increased by one penny to 46 cents on Sunday. The U.S. Postal Service also introduced its Global Forever Stamp, which will allow you to mail letters anywhere in the world for $1.10. Forever stamps can be used to mail a 1-ounce letter any time in the future regardless of price changes. The increase comes as the U.S. Postal Service continues to search for ways to diversify its business model, reign in legacy costs for retired workers and still provide service.
