The woman suffered minor injuries after the commuter train struck her in Manassas.
A woman struck by a passing commuter train on Friday will likely face trespassing charges, because she and her companion were walking on the rails, Manassas Police said. It happened Friday afternoon on the Virginia Railway Express Manassas Line, near the Liberia Avenue overpass, according to Manassas Police Sgt. Lowell Nevill. The conductor of the train noticed a man and a woman walking on the tracks, so he slowed the train and sounded the horn, Nevill said. "They stepped to the side, but not far enough," Nevill said. The woman's backpack got caught on a part of the train, spinning her around and causing her to fall, investigators said. She suffered injuries to her arm and was taken to Fairfax Hospital for evaluation. Her injuries were …

The new Dunkin' Donuts location on Liberia Avenue is giving away free coffee to its customers now through Jan. 18. WTOP reported the good news in its Friday Freebies column this week. The new store, located at 9685 Liberia Ave., will give every customer a free medium cup of coffee; no purchase is necessary. The store began the offer when it opened its doors Thursday, Jan. 5. Customers who stop by on Tuesday, Jan. 10, will also get a card good for a free coffee and donut every week for a year.

Two-time Super Bowl Champions for the Redskins, Gary Clark, Raven Caldwell, Big Ed Simmons, Clarence Vaughn were on hand to sign autographs at the grand opening of Gold's Gym on Liberia Avenue on Saturday.
Highlights at the grand opening included free body fat testing, free seated massage and activities for the kids, including a moonbounce and a Halloween costume contest. The gym, located on Liberia Avenue, opened in January, and recently expanded to a second level in July, adding an additional 15,000 sq. ft. of workout space for a grand total of over 30,000 sq. ft.
