I feel like the two most comforting words in the English language are the words "me too."
The amount of joy someone can bring into your life is the amount of pain they’re capable of; equal and opposite…totally and completely.
I can be the strongest, coolest, biggest tree in the entire forest but if all my limbs are weighed down with rotten fruit...I'm nothing. Death will always produce death.
It isn't a coincidence that in order for us to isolate we actually have to put forth effort into finding a place away from everyone else. God created people to live in community.
Without God my life has no purpose, without a purpose my life has no meaning, without meaning nothing about my life carries any significance or hope, and without hope I perish...we all do.
Half of my brain is manufacturing bullshit…and then the other half is buying it. I don’t just have good and evil relentlessly combating against each other…they’re running a business.
It has always amazed me how we’re the same people our whole lives. The things that bothered us as four- year-olds bother us now, the character defects we had at three are still there at 33.
I didn't know a whole lot about the program I was signing myself into at first except that A. it was faith based, B. it was a year long, and C. my counselor thought it was a terrible idea.
Did I want to be miserable and high or miserable and sober? That choice was obvious. I didnt think it was possible for my life to be more than that.
There's something about the 12 step program that works but it doesn't work for the people who want it, it doesn't work for the people who need it, it works for the people who work it.
