Neighbors Plan Flea Market to Raise Money to Fight Bi-County Parkway

The group of neighbors live near Manassas National Battlefield Park in Prince William County.

The group of neighbors against a proposed roadway that would be built near their homes are raising money for their cause in a very unique way—by hosting flea market.

The neighbors are protesting the Bi-County Parkway, formerly known as the Tri-County Parkway, a 10-mile road that would connect Dulles International Airport to Interstate 66 in Prince William County.

The group runs an e-newsletter and a Facebook Page called "Say NO to Tri-County Parkway" to raise awareness for its cause.

The group lives around the Manassas National Battlefield Park near where the proposed parkway would be built and worry that the roadway would adversely affect their quality of life.

The flea market is planned for 8 to 1 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the Thamara Horse Boarding Facility at 5904 Pageland Lane, Manassas.

Purses, framed art, books and furniture will be available at the flea market.
All the items are donated by the neighbors living around the battlefield.  All the money earned will offset the costs associated with protesting the roadway, an action the group refers to as, "The Bi-County Rebellion."

Other donations are also being accepted. For more information on the flea market, call 703-753-3405.
