Osbourn High Yearbook Staff Gets Schooled on Summer Break

Nine Osbourn High School students sacrificed five precious days of their summer vacation to attend a special camp that taught valuable photography and writing skills.

The students from Osbourn's yearbook staff traveled to Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania to the Gettysburg Yearbook Experience held July 14 to 18, Manassas City Public Schools spokeswoman Almeta Radford said this week.

While there, the students took intensive classes in photography, journalistic writing and design.

Experts from the college also helped the Manassas committee tackle a huge component of the yearbook process—the theme for this year's edition,  she added.
Even with all the learning and work, the group still had time for a little fun; they took time out to tour historic Gettysburg before heading back to Northern Virginia, Radford said.

Osbourn High School students head back to school on Sept. 3.
