Pink Glove Video Contest Has Hospital Staff Shaking It for Votes

Novant Health Prince William Medical Center has produced a video for the Pink Glove Dance contest. Voting ends Nov. 8.

Novant Health Prince William Medical Center in Manassas is hoping to win the first place prize of $25,000 for a breast cancer charity of its choice through a  fun video it produced in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Medline Industries Inc., a supplier of medical products to hospitals, sponsors the annual Pink Glove Dance Video contest which challenges groups to produce inspirational breast cancer awareness videos for prize money awarded to breast cancer charities.

Novant Health staff, breast cancer survivors and members of the Manassas Park and Manassas City Fire Departments appear in the video sporting pink gloves and dancing to the song "Carry On" by Fun. an American pop band.

"Throughout the video you will see a runner, one of our very own breast cancer survivors, running the race of her life through discovery, treatment and coping phases of the disease, all while being touched by her Novant Health care team," said. Katie DeRosa, marketing and public relations specialist for Novant Health Prince William Medical Center.

Staff are hoping to get enough votes from the community to win first place or even the second and third place prizes of $10,000 and $5,000, respectively for the American Cancer Society, their choice charity for the competition.

Voting is open now and ends Nov. 8. Winners will be announced on Nov. 12.
