Food Lion Returns to Sudley Road in Manassas After 7 Years

A new Food Lion opened this spring at the site of the former Bottom Dollar Food across from the Manassas Mall.

A new Food Lion has opened at the site of a former Bottom Dollar—which was formerly a Food Lion.

The Food Lion officially opened at 8313 Sudley Road, just across from the Manassas Mall on Feb. 24, Food Lion spokesman Benny Smith said earlier this week.

But a Food Lion first opened in the current parcel on March 14, 1998 and operating for about eight years before becoming a Bottom Dollar on Oct. 7, 2006.

Food Lion's return is part of a plan by Delhaize America, Food Lion's parent company, to convert 64 Bottom Dollar and Bloom stores in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina to Food Lion stores, according to a press release issued by Delhaize. 

The plan also calls for the complete retirement of the Bloom brand.

Additionally, the company closed 118 under performing

The location was a Bloom store up until May of 2012 when it was converted into a Food Lion.
