David’s Tent DC 2013 seeks worship teams

David's Tent DC is seeking worship teams as they meet on the Ellipse of the White House beginning Sept 24-Nov 5 for a time of prayer in the Capital City.

This article was written in collaboration with Teresa Cook - Missionary, Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and Loudoun Burn 24-7.

David’s Tent DC is seeking worship teams as they meet on the Ellipse of the White House beginning Sept 24-Nov 5 for a time of prayer in the Capital City.  To sign up or to receive information on leading worship from the main stage, scheduled in two-hour time slots, switching on the odd hour, please email worship@davidstentdc.org.

The night-watch is unplugged and is particularly anointed.  There is a city ordinance that disallows amplification from 9 PM - 7 AM.  But, the worship goes on!  A good old-fashioned strings-and-hammers piano along with hand drums and acoustic guitars are made available.  If you are interested in the uniqueness of acoustic sets and the draw of an intimate time with Jesus during the night-watch and wish to lead worship during the night hour, please email nightwatch@davidstentdc.org.

David’s Tent DC seeks believers from every tribe, tongue and nation (all 50 states), across denominations, languages, and anything that would ever seek to divide us.  The program shall host worship teams comprising all music styles, children’s choir to hymnals and across all ages.  It’s time to build an Oval Altar, by the Oval Office.  The government will rest on whose shoulders (Isaiah 9:6)?  We know that building this altar of day and night worship is going to rend the heavens!

Intercessors have a conviction just as Watchman Nee proclaimed: “everything good happens because of prayer and nothing good happens without it.”  We must develop faith to know that God absolutely answers prayers.

David’s Tent DC is beckoning the nation’s worship leaders to come to DC as a congress of worship.  They believe there are to be worship teams that represent – at some point during the 40 days - each of the 50 states!  Come as a royal priesthood and minister to the Lord on behalf of your state and on behalf of America!

Last year approximately 20,000 people took part in this scheduled annual event.  David’s Tent consisted of 41 days, nearly 1,000 hours of continuous 24-7 worship from September 25th through the morning of November 7th!  During this period, 166 Prayer Teams representing all 50 U.S. states as well as dozens of nations abroad participated in David’s Tent!  The event consisted of 497 two hour sets of worship!  The generations, comprising young and old and entire families came from near and far to enthrone the King of Kings by the palace!  David’s Tent became a gathering place where many denominations and expressions of the body of Christ came together on the Ellipse (the backyard) of the White House just to praise Him for the simple fact that He is worthy!

Psalm 22:3 says, “The Lord is enthroned on the praises of His people”.  Jesus truly was enthroned on the praises of His people on the land of the highest governmental office of our Nation day and night continuously for 41 days.

“My heart’s prayer is that one day, America will have a congress of worship and prayer assembled in Washington, DC, whose light will never go out, day or night, 24/7/365.  Mark my words, the day that happens everything changes for America, because that day we will have shown the Lord that, as a nation, we have made Him our top priority.  He should be given our most valuable space!" - Jason Hershey (Founder David’s Tent DC)

An Oval Altar for the Oval Office

Many folks believe it is on the heart of the Lord to make David’s Tent an annual part of the culture of America.  David’s Tent is about redefining a lifestyle of presence-centeredness for America!  This isn’t about an urgency or desperation for the Lord.  In America, we now celebrate Jesus 40 days every fall in our Capital, Washington DC!  This is who we are as Americans that love Jesus!  Our culture is changing!

We are calling America to joyfully gather, with all hope and trust in our hearts, and express to Jesus that our first love is simply Him!  Just Praise for 40 days!  The Oval Altar (the Ellipse) by the Oval Office!  We know it’s significant that God has made a way to build this altar of worship right beside the highest Executive Office in our great Nation!  Let’s reexamine the primary purpose for our Capital and transform it to be a gathering place for the nation to praise the name of the Lord (Psalm 122:4).

There have been many solemn assemblies and national prayer gatherings in DC over the past 3 decades.  At these gatherings, we prayed from a place of human need.  David’s Tent is called to be a completely different sound than the desperate plea of what has typified national gatherings in the past.  It’s the position of praying, not from human need, but from divine authority as children of the King.  We are after all seated with Christ in Heavenly places.  We are setting aside the desperation that we feel for our Nation.  We are taking on a spirit of celebration.  Celebratory worship, thanksgiving, and adoration of Jesus are what we believe the Lord has asked of David’s Tent this fall, as our intercession for America.

About David’s Tent DC

The name “David’s Tent DC” has a double meaning.  First, the restoration of the fallen Tent of David (Amos 9:11) meant that a descendent of David would once again be on the throne!  David becomes king and he locates the place that God desired to dwell, conquered the land from the Jebusites, and moved his palace there from Hebron.  David brings the Ark of the Covenant to the former city of Jebus.

Secondly, David put the Ark under a tent he had pitched for it and as an explosion of devotion he commissioned 4,288 musicians and singers to minister to the Lord continually around the Ark, night and day.  This 24/7/365 worship tent went on for the length of his reign in the new city of Jerusalem, 33 years.  This Ark is now in His Capital City!  God is finally home!  It brought blessing on the whole nation and it prepared the way for Solomon’s Temple.

David danced before the Lord as the procession of Levites brought the Presence of God into the place where he desired to dwell.  The world would never be the same.  Jerusalem, the city of all cities, was finally established.

“For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering.  For my name will be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts” (Malachi 1:11).
