Area Men Charged in Fatal Gang Fight

Two local men wanted for gang participation and the violent assault on a teen who later died have been arrested and charged. The following arrest information was supplied by the Manassas City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two local men wanted for gang participation and the violent assault on a teen who later died from his injuries have been arrested and charged, according to police.

Manassas Police Sergeant Eddie Rivera said that Justin Lee Finley, of Gainesville,  and Stephon Damont Greene, of Manassas, were both apprehended in New Jersey on May 30 and are awaiting extradition back to Virginia where they are facing charges of alleged gang participation, aggravated malicious wounding and assault by mob.

The two suspects were featured as Manassas City’s "Fugitives of the Week" in April, after they allegedly attacked 19-year-old John Jackson II on March 17 in in Manassas City. Jackson later succumbed to his injuries and died on May 28 in the hospital, according to police.

Manassas City police officers responded to Aspen Place for a fight on March 17 around 4 p.m. and were informed by a man that his brother had been “jumped” by two other males. Witnesses in the area told officers that the assault was gang-related, police said. Police said further charges may be pending in this case as the investigation continues.

InsideNova.com reported  a candlelight vigil was held for Jackson on Sunday at the same location on Aspen Place where the assault took place. Jackson was remembered as someone who liked to spend time with his daughter and play football.

Jackson's funeral service was held today (Thursday). The family is asking that any donations be made to a memorial fund for Jackson's daughter through TD Bank, account number: 4769136651, the report said.
