Police: Gainesville Man Knocked Unconscious, Left Bound in Woods

The man was able to break free of his restraints after spending the night in the woods and call Prince William County Police.

A Gainesville man was cut with a box cutter, knocked unconscious, and left in the woods with his feet and hands bound, Prince William County Police said.

The 36-year-old victim was driving to his residence around 11:30 p.m. Friday when he saw an unknown vehicle behind him. The driver of the vehicle began to flash his lights, so the victim stopped his car near the 14100 block of Daves Store Lane. Several other men got out of the vehicle and approached him.

"The men began to assault he victim and, at one point, one of the men cut him with what was believed to be a box cutter," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said in a press release. "During the encounter, the victim was struck to his head with an unknown object which knocked him unconscious."

The victim awoke several hours later with his hands and feet bound, but he was able to break free and contact police at 5:50 a.m. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was unable to describe his attackers.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous and could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward.
