Police Target Red Light Runners

The Prince William County Police Department campaign is part of national Stop on Red Week.

Prince William County Police officers are targeting red-light runners and promoting safe driving habits as part of a national initiative this week.

The campaign is part of national Stop on Red Week, which seeks to educate drivers about the dangers of running red lights and reduce the number of traffic crashes.

"Red-light running causes countless injuries and fatalities every year, with a large number of those deaths and injuries being innocent pedestrians, cyclists and passengers in vehicles hit by red-light runners," police said in a news release.

For more information on the campaign, call the Traffic Unit at 703-792-7254.
