Suspect Nabbed in Child Pornography Investigation

Manassas police believe the suspect has been into child pornography since 2009.

A Manassas Park man was taken into custody this week in connection with an Internet child pornography investigation, Manassas Police said on Friday. 

Roberto Martinez Alvarez, 35, of Polk Drive was arrested Thursday and is charged with nine felony counts of possession of child pornography and one felony count of distribution of child pornography.

Manassas investigators along with Northern Virginia-District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force officer executed a search warrant at the suspect's house on Thursday and found he had been using a file-sharing program to obtain and distribute child pornography over the Internet since 2009.

  Alvarez was held without bond and has a pending court date of Jan. 13, 2014.
