Suspicious Package Found at VRE Station Near Manassas

UDPATE, 11:05 a.m.: The unattended package spotted after 9 a.m. at the VRE station on Piper Lane has been determined to be harmless, according to an update by the Prince William County Police Department.

"The package appeared to be innocent, perhaps just left by mistake," notes a message to a Facebook reader. "However it does remind travelers of the importance to report suspicious activity which occurred in this case by a vigilant citizen."

ORIGINAL: A suspicious package  was found at the VRE Station on Piper Lane in Manassas this morning.

Prince William County Police reported the discovery after 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, but no more information was available.

The unattended package was found on the platform. Train traffic may be affected, according to PWCPD.
