Red Light, Green Light Game Earns Manassas a Spot in the Record Books

The city of Manassas is officially a Guinness World Record holder.

It’s official!  The City of Manassas has been designated the world record holder from Guinness World Records for the largest game of Red Light, Green Light.

On May 4,  the City of Manassas Neighborhood Services attempted the world record for this game during the Big Day of Serving 2013.

Officially, 775 people were recorded as participating—enough to take down the previous record holder the Ford Motor Company. The company held the title for less than a year after 451 people played the game in Dearborn, Mich.

On Monday the  Guinness organization sent official word to Manassas, confirming the city holds the title for the largest game of Red Light, Green Light.

As a result the city is, “Officially Amazing," Guinness officials told city staff.

The city thanks the wonderful volunteers and participants, the Boys & Girls Club and the officials, Dan Heldman and Enica Russell who made the record possible, city employees said in a release issued Monday.
