Manassas Looking For City Manager, African-American Heritage Festival and Take-out Tuesdays

1. Support Old Town Manassas businesses during the week with "Take Out Tuesdays" at the Harris Pavilion at 9201 Center St. The idea is to grab some take out from local eateries and consume your grub while taking in a variety of entertainment at the pavilion. Get more info by calling The Manassas Visitors Center at 703-361-9800 or by logging on to harrispavilion.com

 2.  There’s an important meeting on Wednesday in Gainesville regarding the Virginia Department of Transportation’s plans to move Route 29 traffic onto the new bridge extending over the train tracks.  The meeting is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the storefront located between the Sports Authority and Golfsmith in the Gateway shopping center at 5095 Wellington Rd. Learn more about the project  here.   There was a minor crash involving a car and train in that area on Friday. No major injuries were reported.

3. The city of Manassas continues its search for its next city manager by discussing the matter in a special closed meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday  There is another closed meeting planned for the same time Friday. View the whole agenda here.

4. Friday at 1:30 p.m. there is a tour of Cannon Branch Fort, a 19th Century fortress likely built by Union troops during the last years of the Civil War. It is located at 10611 Gateway Boulevard. For more information, reach out to the Manassas Museum at 703-257-8453.

  5. The 23rd annual Manassas African-American Heritage Festival takes place on Saturday at Grace E. Metz Middle School at 9950 Wellington Rd. in Manassas.
